Something to look at!

I think it's going to be a little while until I put together something worth reading so I've uploaded a couple of photos that I'm not too embarrassed about. Personally I don't edit my photos with software, even though they could benefit from some tweaking. I like the feeling of capturing what's there. The only adjustments are done in-camera and are either just cropping or the fancy art settings. The first two were taken on Cemetery Road in Sheffield, on a cold and snowy day, it's one of my favourite places and just round the corner from where I live. Most of my photos are technically poor but I try to get some kind of feeling or quality that makes them jump out and catch the eye. I love the Gothic feeling in this but have to admit it was by happy accident. Most of my best photos happen that way, I'd like to work on my composition skills but would prefer to allow the camera to handle the technical stuff! Man ...

The start of something......

Hello! And welcome to my first ever post on my first ever blog! I guess I'll start by having a mission statement: the exploration of the world beyond my front door, hence the title! I'd like this blog to be the motivation behind getting out there and using my camera more, I've lived in Sheffield for more than a few years and I'm embarrassed to admit that I've hardly seen any of it. This blog is mainly going to be for my own benefit to learn the basics of blogging and to have somewhere to put the least worst of my photos! There will be spelling errors and my grammar is not the best but here goes......
